🏁 St. Pete Grand Prix – Race Recap

📍 St. Petersburg, FL
📅 2026 Season Opener
🏁 Class: Pro Class 1
🔢 Finish: 3rd Place

Outta Pocket Racing officially kicked off its first race weekend in St. Pete this past Thursday, arriving early to get the pit dialed in with the boat and trucks fully set up and ready for competition.

Friday marked qualifying day, where the team saw strong performance right out of the gate. After initial runs, the boat was craned out of the water for adjustments, including prop and gear set changes, before being dropped back in for one final test session. Everything was pointing in the right direction heading into race day.

Saturday, however, didn’t go as planned. During the first race, a rogue spray triggered the boat into guardian mode, caused by a faulty crankcase sensor, ultimately resulting in a DNF. Despite the setback, the team stayed locked in, working through the evening until 9:30 PM to ensure the boat would be ready to go for Sunday.

Sunday brought a new challenge, with heavier conditions, choppy water, and wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph. Through it all, the team pushed through and successfully completed their first race, securing a 3rd place finish after multiple competitors were sidelined with DNFs and disqualifications.

For a brand new team in their first race together, it was a weekend full of learning, resilience, and a strong result to build on.

Outta Pocket Racing now sets its sights on New Orleans, with the next race just under two weeks away.
